COVID-19, often referred to simply as, “The Corona Virus”, is believed to have emerged in the Wuhan Province of China in December of 2019. Originally called the 2019 novel it is now referred to as COVID-19. Although COVID-19 has caused global concern there are simple yet effective steps that you can take to protect yourself, your family and your passengers.

The good news is that you can stop the spread of this virus relatively easily and most who contract it will make a full recovery.

This page provides prevention steps, news updates and other resources about COVID-19. Keep in mind that each situation is different and as new information becomes available you should follow guidelines from trusted sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. COVID-19 Prevention Poster

The first step in ensuring your workplace and vehicle are safe for you, your co-workers and passengers is to be educated on what to do. This poster is to be used as a reference guide to help ensure everyone does their part to stop the spread of COVID-19. Every chauffeur and Motor Coach driver should retain a paper or digital copy of this poster and a printed copy hung in a prominent place at work.

If at anytime you exhibit COVID-19 symptoms DO NOT report to work. Notify your supervisor and consult a healthcare professional.

Prevention Steps

It is important to know that people who are not showing any symptoms of COVID-19 can still potentially transit the virus. The symptoms of COVID-19 can include Fever, Coughing and Shortness of Breath. Typically symptoms will appear between 2-14 days after it has been contracted.

If at anytime you exhibit these DO NOT report to work. Notify your supervisor and consult a healthcare professional.

Personal Safety Precautions

  • Wash hands regularly for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use hand sanitizer before and after each trip.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow, inside your shirt or into a tissue.
  • Notify your supervisor if you are coughing, have shortness of breath or a fever.

  • Regularly disinfect commonly used surfaces like door knobs, handles, and pulls.
  • Clean utensils and surfaces regularly.
  • Give sick members their own room and keep the door closed.
  • Increase ventilation by opening windows and replacing air filters regularly.

  • Wash your hands immediately upon arriving and before departing your work.
  • Touch only what is necessary to perform your job.
  • Avoid sharing work spaces, keyboards or phones.
  • Wipe down all shared spaces and items after each use.

  • Most passengers will not want ANY physical contact.
  • Do not initiate a handshake and avoid personal contact.
  • ASK before assisting passengers with luggage or personal items.
  • Whenever possible wear disposable gloves when handling luggage.
  • Offer passengers your forearm, not your hand.

  • Open windows between trips to allow fresh air to circulate.
  • Remove all printed reading materials, tissues, candies & bottled water unless requested.
  • Disinfect ALL passenger touch points after every trip.

The U.S. CDC has been  monitoring the novel coronavirus outbreak. They provide information, news and updates on the virus and affected areas. They also provide information on what you can do.

The NLA has been working closely with government offices to ensure aid is provided to the livery industry. They also have resources and information to allow operators to connect with local and federal offices to ensure you voice is heard.

The United Motorcoach Association. ( UMA). UMA is comprised of more. than 900 professional bus and motorcoach companies and more than 250 “associate” members, the suppliers, manufacturers, and travel partners who serve our dynamic industry. They predominately serve the private Motor Coach industry and has put together a resources page.

Driving Force

Created by the ABA’s Women in Buses Council, Driving Force is a program designed to tackle the nationwide driver shortage by providing industry operators tips and tools to recruit and retain their most valuable asset: Drivers.

American Bus Association

The ABA serves bus companies that provide charters, tours, scheduled service and shuttles. Their dedicated COVID-19 resource page provides information for operators of these types of operations.

Small Business Administration

U.S. Small Business Administration

The SBA has announced that it will offer Disaster Assistance Loans for small businesses affected by COVID-19. In areas where a request is received from the state’s or territory’s Governor the SBA will have the authority to issue loans, as provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by the President. World Health Organization

World Health Organization

WHO is playing an important coordinating role by bringing the scientific community together to identify research priorities and accelerate progress. In addition to playing a key role in global containment and prevention WHO also provides information on the virus as well as precautions that can be taken.
